Hydration:
Summer is coming and the highest velocity category of drinks (after water) is Hydration.
Hydration is what the bottlers call Gatorade, Powerade, Prime (if you’re cool), and Electrolit (more specialized), etc.
If you’re selling drinks in unattended retail, you need to be on top of Hydration in the summer.
We see some spots that run 50+% in hydration in summer months.
Some tips for both pros and newbies:
Newbies-
If you’re having trouble moving a flavor from a mix pack in a specific location, move it to another location (obviously). Don’t have it take space in a dead spot. Use VMS tools to see what’s occupying place in your product mix that shouldn’t be.
Understand the difference between Gatorade and Powerade. This is demo/location specific so be aware of what your location wants.
If you have a stacker with a limited slots, you can run a mixed slot and let customers know on the label.
Pros-
Note that club is almost always cheaper for mixed packs than bottlers (on Gatorade and Powerade).
Don’t be afraid to run a mixed row of Powerade Zero in your Bev or smart cooler (most software/VMS/Coolers can accommodate a mixed flavor type.
